Oct. 21--Norway's Telenor yesterday announced an indirect takeover of United Communication Industry and its mobile subsidiary Total Access Communication in a complex transaction under which the founding Bencharongkul family effectively exits its involvement in the Thai telecom sector.
Under the deal, Thai Telco Holdings, a 49 percent-owned subsidiary of Telenor, has purchased 173.3 million Ucom shares, or a 39.9 percent stake, from the Bencharongkul family for 53 baht a share or a total of 9.2 billion baht.
